Who is Elizabeth "Betita" Martinez?

     When talking about American history throughout our education we always hear the names such as Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Christopher Columbus, etc. It's not a coincidence that all these historical figures are white males.  American history has rarely mentioned any women of color as historical figures. This could be because history has been narrowed down to a small perspective of past events. One person that has impacted our history in a big way and has been undervalued is Elizabeth "Betita" Martinez. Many people may not know who she is, so let me educate you a little about her through this blog.
